I
love fly fishing but my partner is not that keen. Can they be
accommodated?
Most
of our destinations have many other activities available to
cater for non- fishing partners and friends.
Our
Guides: All guides are local and very knowledgeable to the
specific area, are fully insured and are professional and patient
in nature. We are fully aware that the guide can make all the
difference to your fishing holiday so we only use the best we
can find.
Clothes:
Like most mountainous areas the weather can change from hour
to hour. Wearing several layers of clothing all year
round is practical. Winds can blow anytime, but are not bothersome.
We recommend to bring:
Warm and
cold weather clothing
Sun and rain hat
Sun protective clothing
Windbreaker
Rain Gear
Sandals
Comfortable walking\hiking shoes
Travel
Insurance: Travel insurance is wise to purchase when traveling
extensively. VIP Fly Fishing Patagonia highly recommends all
visitors purchase travel insurance. Although Argentina is a
safe country and your hosts take every precaution necessary
to ensure your well being, unexpected events do happen. All
medications you might want or require should be brought with
you. You can be further prepared by buying complete travel insurance
that includes medical evacuations. Please note that we are not
responsible for loss of planned activities due to late arrivals.
Many credit card companies offer travel insurance services.
Travel
Documents: You can visit Argentina only with your passport.
Currency
and Money: The Argentine currency is the peso, which fluctuates
around 3 pesos to 1 US dollar. Your personal purchases should
be made with dollars, pesos or credit cards. Currency exchange
houses can be found in airports or in towns. Most of your personal
purchases will be made with cash (pesos or dollars) as well
as credit cards. Travelers checks are not accepted by many merchants.
There are many ATM machines to get cash with credit or debit
cards.
Food:
The food served will be local meats, vegetables and fruit
prepared daily in traditional Argentine style. Lunchs will be
served with fine wines from Argentina.
Internet
Services: All lodging services, hotels and accommodation
options have this service available. Argentina is fast catching
on to the Internet, and is one of the best developed of the
Latin American countries in terms of using it as a business
tool. All towns in Argentina have a public place for accessing
the Internet, with inexpensive rates: less than US$0.50 per
hour. All cities have hundreds of Internet cafés, office
rooms, and telephone call centers. You can find free access
in libraries and cultural centers.
Electricity:
220V/50Hz is standard throughout the country. The sockets are
two-pronged with round pins, but are different to the two-pin
European plugs. Adapters will probably be needed and can be
bought at any electrical shops.
Laundry:
plentiful supply of laundries (lavanderías or lavaderos).
You may also have this service in your accommodation option
(it depends on your accommodation option). Many of them also
do dry-cleaning, though you may have to go to a tintorería.
Self-service places are almost unheard of; you normally give
your name and leave your washing to pick it up later. Rates
are inexpensive. The quality is good and the service is usually
quick and reliable. One important word of vocabulary to know
is planchado (ironed).
Telephone
Jacks: Argentina uses international standard telephone jacks
(the same as those used in the USA), compatible with all standard
fax and email connections.
